Grades 1 thru 8 Program
St. Edward the Confessor Church runs a Religious Education Program for children in grades 1st through 8th grade. Children receive their First Holy Communion in the 2nd grade. This sacrament is celebrated during one of the Sunday masses in the Spring. Because 2nd grade is a sacrament year, there is no homeschooling during this year in preparation of the sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist.
The classes are currently being held on select Sundays throughout the year. These Sundays change from year to year depending on factors such as the public school schedule. Please see the schedule for these dates.
Two retreats are offered to students in grades 1 through 8. The first retreat is offered in the Fall for grades 1 to 4, and the second retreat is offered in the Spring for grades 5 to 8.
The Confirmation Program for St. Edward the Confessor Parish is a two-year program. Students typically enter in the 9th grade and continue in the 10th grade. The program is divided up into four semesters over the two year period. Students must complete each of the four classes before being confirmed. The four classes are: The Life of Jesus, Morality, Scripture, and Fundamentals of the Faith. Each Confirmation student is required to volunteer for 20 service hours during the two year preparation program.
